Halswll House and its lake

Join me at the preview of my next exhibition at Halswell House, Goathurst, Somerset, on Wednesday evening 4 February 2009. If you would like to be there, please email me for an invitation.

Lynda Appleby is a professional artist whose work ranges from delicate emotive watercolours to dynamic, powerful large-size acrylic paintings that capture the essence of the landscape in the way that photographs cannot.

Multi-talented, she is an illustrator, architectural portrait painter, art tutor and imaginative landscape artist. Her work is growing in popularity and is now sought after by discerning collectors, galleries and clients, such as the BBC, BP, the Duchy of Cornwall and the National Trust.

Her work is also winning prizes in many exhibitions and, more recently, she has been sourced by one of England’s finest houses – Halswell in Somerset – to paint numerous portraits of their house and grounds.

Featured work: Halswell House

The beautiful mansion that is Halswell House dates from 1318. The William and Mary facade was built by Sir Halswell Tynte in or around 1689 and the property remained in the ownership of the Tynte Family until 1950.

The imposing facade, attached to the original Tudor manor house, was designed supposedly by William Taylor and has strong architectural influences of both Inigo Jones and Christopher Wren.

Recently, Halswell was quoted as being one of the most beautiful country houses in England by a leading art historian. It is now used as an exquisite venue for weddings, parties and special gatherings.

Lynda is spending eighteen months capturing the beauty of the house, the estate and surrounding countryside. Her work will be shown at an exhibition at The Halswell Tulip Fair in the Spring of 2009.
